Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Prime Minister Binali Yildirim in Ankara.
The sides discussed main aspects of the economic relations between Georgia and Turkey.
Yildirim assessed the visit as a gesture of "great support demonstrated on the part of Georgia”. He also expressed his gratitude that the Georgian PM expressed his firm support to the Turkish people during the very first few hours of the attempted coup.
Kirikashvili said that the support voiced by his government to the democratically elected authorities in Turkey “was not a result of only personal friendship.”
“It demonstrated how important unhindered development of stable and democratic Turkey is for the region, including for Georgia. Stable and strong Turkey is vitally important,” Civil.ge cited the Georgian PM as saying.
