Kyrgyzstan becomes fifth EEU member

Kyrgyzstan has become a full member of the Eurasian Economic Union.

"On August the 6th the agreement on Kyrgyzstan entering the EEU comes into force. Kyrgyzstan becomes the fifth full member of the Eurasian Economic Union alongside Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia," the Eurasian Economic Commission said.

But Kyrgyzstan seems to be cautious when speaking about the date for opening customs borders with other EEU member states. Initially, the ceremony of closing customs offices was planned for Thursday but was postponed due to formalities. According to Bishkek, it will take place in several days. The formalities would be settled no earlier than August 11-12, TASS cited a source in the Kyrgyz government as saying.
