Kyrgyzstan's ruling coalition collapses

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has withdrawn from the ruling coalition in Kyrgyzstan's parliament.

SDP faction leader Isa Omurkulov said that the decision to withdraw from the six-party coalition was made at a party meeting earlier the same day "because of irreconcilable political views."

The SDP was headed by President Almazbek Atambayev before his election as president.

Under the Kyrgyz Constitution, the withdrawal of one coalition party automatically means the dissolution of the coalition and the resignation of the government that it formed.

Jeenbekov's government took power in April following the resignation of his predecessor, Temir Sariyev, RFE/RL reports.
