The Kyrgyz authorities have terminated the agreement with Russia on the construction and operation of hydroelectric power stations. The relevant decree was signed by President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev. The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry will notify the Russian government of the termination soon.
"I think Russia will not be able to fulfill these agreements for objective reasons," the Kyrgyz president earlier said.
It should be noted that the previously agreed projects were worth about $3 billion.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov that "there are difficulties of a commercial and conjunctural nature," RBC reports.
An agreement between the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Russia on the construction of Kambarata-1 was signed in 2009.
