Landmine explosion kills 4 Turkish soldiers in Syria

A landmine ripped through a group of Turkish soldiers in Syria's northeastern province of Hasakah, killing four and wounding seven others, a war monitor reported.

The landmine exploded in the area between the villages of Qashqai and Rihaniyeh northwest of the town of Tal Tamr near a Turkish base in Hasakah Province, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Following the first explosion, a second landmine exploded when another group of Turkish soldiers arrived in the area, said the Observatory.

The Britain-based watchdog said the death toll is likely to rise due to the number of critically wounded soldiers, Xinhua reported.
