Latvia appoints new ambassador to Azerbaijan

 

Latvian President Raymond Veyonis has presented the credentials of his country's new ambassador to Azerbaijan, Juris Maklakovs, the website of the President of Latvia announced.


Maklakovs was born in 1964, he is a graduate of the US Army War College. Since 2006 he has been the formal commander of the National Armed Forces of Latvia. Maklakovs has been the Latvian ambassador to Kazakhstan since 2011.


The new ambassador will arrive in Baku in early August, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports. Juris Maklakovs replaced ambassador Hardijs Baumanis, who died in April this year in Baku.
