All participants of Saturday’s ministerial meeting in Lausanne confirmed their strong support for preserving Syria’s territorial integrity, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The commitment of all participants of the meeting was confirmed to preserving Syria as an integral, independent and secular state where the country’s future will be defined by the Syrians themselves during an inclusive political dialogue," the ministry said.

During the talks in the Swiss city special focus was made on the goals of restoring the ceasefire regime in Aleppo and in Syria in general in the context of the Russian-US agreements reached in Geneva on September 9, TASS reports.

"The Russian side stressed that the guarantee for the restoration and successful implementation of the ceasefire regime and ensuring humanitarian access to all those in need is the separation of moderate opposition’s units from the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (al-Nusra) militants and other affiliated terrorist groups," it said.

"In this context, there is the need for the respective work of all participants of the meeting with the forces present in Syria. It should be understood here that the operations against terrorists of Daesh and Jabhat al-Nusra will continue," the statement read.
