The United States’ decision to recognize the Golan Heights as part of Israel is a deliberate demonstration of permissiveness, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a joint news conference with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu following meeting of the Joint Strategic Planning Group.
"In addition to the fact that many people analyze that move in light of the upcoming elections in Israel, it also has another dimension, of course," Lavrov noted.
"I feel that this is a deliberate, conscious demonstration of permissiveness. This demonstration of permissiveness, along with threats, ultimatums and sanctions, are the tools used by the U.S. on the international stage," TASS cited the Russian top diplomat as saying.
"That is sad, but such an attitude towards international law can be seen everywhere," he stressed.
Lavrov referred to Washington’s withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran’s nuclear program, which was "a flagrant violation of the UN Security Council’s resolution, which endorsed it," along with the Venezuelan crisis.
