The restoration of diplomatic relations and closer cooperation in the field of security between the two countries is the main condition for easing visa regime between Russia and Georgia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
The Minister called the possibility of returning visa-free regime with Georgia a complex issue and noted that it was “a little weird” to discuss it in the absence of diplomatic relations with Tbilisi. “But it is also associated with the need to ensure the safety, not only Central Asia but the Caucasus, since it is becoming a route that often used by militants and extremists,” said Lavrov.
