The leader of the Heritage opposition party, Raffi Hovannisian, has torn up his ballot at a polling station during the referendum on constitutional reform and thrown the scraps in a dustbin.
"It's my civiс protest against the Republican party state (the Republican Party, the ruling Armenian party). The system based on one person and a party that wants to consolidate themselves with the help of this false referendum are unacceptable for me as a citizen of this country,’’ Armenia Today cites him as saying.
The opposition leader added that a protest is to start immediately after the end of the voting at 20.00 local time (19:00 MSK). All those who have the same position are invited to Liberty Square in order to participate in this process.
