Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation is on the rise, Russian State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Leonid Slutsky said in an interview with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza.
He recalled that cooperation between Moscow and Baku is under the jurisdiction of the Committee on CIS Affairs, which he led in the Duma of the sixth convocation and which is headed by Leonid Kalashnikov now.
"We have the closest ties with the Azerbaijani Parliament. We are grateful to Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis and his delegations for their cooperation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, they supported us very much, being led by Samad Seyidov, an experienced parliamentarian, many other members of the delegation with whom we are friends also supported us," Leonid Slutsky said.
"As for the overall cooperation between our countries, between our parliaments, it is on the rise, which is very pleasing," the chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs said.
"The current composition of the Milli Majlis are professional people with whom we cooperate very closely. And I think that the degree and effectiveness of this interaction will only increase," the Russian MP concluded.
