Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva celebrates her birthday today.
Leyla Aliyeva is known as initiator and organizer of many important projects, her activities cover many different areas.
Leyla Aliyeva initiated the 'Justice for Khojaly!' campaign, she is a chairwoman of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia (AYOR), a co-founder of IDEA, the chief editor of the Baku magazine. She is a UN Food and Agricuture Organization (FAO) Goodwill Ambassador.
The 'Justice for Khojaly!' campaign has attracted the world's attention to the bleeding wound of Azerbaijan – the Khojaly genocide. As a result of this activity, a number of countries have recognized this tragedy as an act of genocide.
One of the important activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and its Vice-President Leyla Aliyeva is helping the elderly living in nursing homes, children and adolescents deprived of parental care or suffering from various diseases.

The Azerbaijani Youth Association of Russia (AYOR) has recently celebrated the 10th anniversary. It is the first diaspora organization of Azerbaijani youth in Russia. It introduces the Russians to Azerbaijan and contributes to the strengthening of ties between the peoples of the two countries.
Leyla Aliyeva also is a poet and an artist. She produces films and promotes healthy lifestyle. She is the initiator and participant of many projects in the field of culture, education, health care, child care and sports.
The deputy head of the Council of the Russian Diplomats Association, Andrey Baklanov, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, noted that Leyla Aliyeva conducts impressive work on the development of cultural ties between Russia and Azerbaijan. "First, I am very impressed that, speaking about the need to strengthen the role of Russian as a language of international communication, Leila sets an example herself. I was at the presentation of her book, where she was able to express herself in Azeri and Russian equally, and writes poems in both languages," he said in the first place.
"Second, I note with great satisfaction Leyla Aliyeva's significant activities in presenting works by representatives of the Azerbaijani intelligentsia in Russia. A wonderful exhibition 'Absheron Constellation' was organized in Moscow, she participated in the opening ceremony," the deputy head of the Council of the Russian Diplomats Association recalled.
"She is also an editor of a very beautiful Baku magazine: its articles are very informative in cultural and historical terms and very intelligent at the same time. This aspect of Leyla Aliyeva’s activities is also weighty and impressive. Therefore, I join the birthday congratulations! I wish her to continue her work in the same spirit. This is very important in order to pull the youth towards the development of traditional ties and friendship between our countries and peoples," Andrei Baklanov concluded.
Well-known director Yuli Gusman expressed admiration for Leyla Aliyeva's capacity to work. "It's amazing how such a young and charming person has so much strength to devote herself to creativity and public good. When I was in Baku recently, I visited Leyla Aliyeva's exhibition at the Heydar Aliyev Center. I was amazed at this this very young person's wisdom, seriousness and the way of looking at the world. I think these were great work, and it would be good if the whole world saw them," he said in the first place.
"Leyla Aliyeva heads many public organizations, she performs all her duties with pleasure, talent and great dedication. A statesman, a public figure, a political figure still grows out of the people, even if being born in a family of the country's leader, and each person chooses his path himself. I am very pleased that Leyla Aliyeva chose the path of the ambassador of the society, a person who is engaged in culture and ecology, helping all those who need support. I wish her great success on this path and happiness, and most importantly, that her victories were victories of the Azerbaijani people and the whole of Azerbaijan," Yuli Gusman stressed.
Ambassador of the UNWTO, legendary hockey player, Russian State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza, stressed the importance of Leyla Aliyeva's work with youth and her concern for ecology. "I know that Leyla Aliyeva devotes considerable time to young people. It’s very important to bring people together through humanitarian events, understanding that there are very important values associated with historical development, with our common history. Such opinion leaders and young people understand that today communicating is more important than ever," he noted.
"Leyla Aliyeva is concerned about environmental issues, and I am glad that she thinks about the future of our planet. Ecology is our main wealth. Solving the problems of the Caspian Sea requires attention of all Caspian countries, because the Caspian Sea is a significant region for the planet’s ecology in general. In this regard, we are obliged to interact and take steps to preserve the wealth of the Caspian Sea. It is about saving life through the preservation of ecology. Everyone should be concerned with this topic," Vyacheslav Fetisov called on.
