Today the studio of Vestnik Kavkaza was visited by the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture, a representative of the executive body of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Lilia Gumerova. On the program Tribune the senator spoke about the work in the group of friendship between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation. Speaking about the Russian part of the Caucasus, as well as the republics of the South Caucasus, the senator noted that the Caucasus always symbolizes beauty, a special philosophy and culture in terms of preserving traditions.
‘‘These are unique subjects of the Russian Federation. There is a department which accumulates competences that help republics to develop their projects. I think that's right. As for the post-Soviet space, I am happy to be in the group of friendship between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation. I paid a visit with a delegation to Baku a year ago. Certainly, I received the most vivid impressions. I liked the sense of the living Russian language. We also liked the infrastructure. A lot of work has been done by our colleagues in terms of legislation and in terms of economic development,’’ Lilia Gumerova pointed out.
The Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture, spoke about the evening in Baku dedicated to the anniversary of the birth of the poet Mikhail Lermontov. "It was a unique event. It was not just an ordinary event: good knowledge of the Russian language, respect for it, and at the same time very good and competent attempts to translate Lermontov’s works only increased the number of fans. They took a very interesting approach and took the right decision,’’ the senator said.
Lilia Gumerova pointed out the excellent work of Russian legislators in terms of immigration legislation. "I was very impressed by our colleagues in respect of the migration law. Our wishes were taken into account. There are many initiatives from our colleagues, the Committee on Education, Youth Policy and Joint Activities. Many initiatives are directed at target training of students.
Answering a question about her impressions of the capital of Azerbaijan, and whether it is possible to say that Baku is a city of contrasts, Lilia Gumerova said: "I wouldn’t name the Azerbaijani capital as city of contrasts, I would name it a city of perfect harmony, which combines modernity and preservation of traditions. I was impressed by its skyscrapers, modern residential buildings and all that was built in terms of infrastructure. The Old Town could not help but touch me. We had an opportunity and happiness to be there, to walk through its streets. It was an unforgettable experience, and the Old Town has amazing atmosphere of preservation of traditions, and maybe some Caucasian colour. Every shop and seller of souvenir is so imbued with this spirit. This atmosphere left a very good impression. So Baku is a city of perfect harmony for me. It's still great that it combines these qualities,’’ the senator concluded.
