The carrying out of the Russian flag by the representative of the Belarusian Paralympic national team at the athletes parade in Rio was a sign of solidarity with the Russian athletes, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said.
"It is our government's position, including the president," Interfax quotes him as saying.
The head of the state, he said, stands "for a clean sport." "If you allow all this [doping - Interfax], Belarus will never win a medal. We, therefore, for the purity of sport,’’ he said.
