Macron reportedly gets 57.6% in France’s presidential election runoff

France’s incumbent president Emmanuel Macron, is about to emerge the winner in the presidential election runoff. According to the BFM television broadcaster, he may get 57.6% of the votes.

His rival, National Rally’s candidate Marine Le Pen is reported to have gained 42.4%. Both politicians are expected to make statements soon.

Macron has been France’s president since 2017, when he outperformed Le Pen for the first time. He is the first French president after Jacques Chirac to have been elected twice. Also, Macron, 44, remains the youngest president in the history of the Fifth Republic General Charles de Gaulle established more than half a century ago.
