Brussels considers the preservation of the status quo in Nagorno-Karabakh unacceptable, the head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Malena Mard said, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza on the sidelines of a conference in Baku devoted to the 10th anniversary of launching EU's twinning projects in Azerbaijan.
"The European Union believes that the status quo is unacceptable," she stressed.
According to the diplomat, the European Union supports the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs in their efforts to achieve the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. "And, of course, we have a special representative from the EU, working with Azerbaijan and Armenia on this issue," Malena Mard concluded.
During the conference, the EU ambassador said that Azerbaijan is one of the leaders in the region in cooperation in twinnigs with the EU, describing the results as very successful. According to her, the EU have implemented 45 twinnings in Azerbaijan, which were used in various fields: statistics, social services, environment. Mard noted that the plans for joint twinnings between Baku and Brussels in the future provide a reliable basis for close cooperation.
