Margvelashvili awarded for his contribution to gender equality

The Deputy Head of the UNDP in Georgia, Shombi Sharp, has presented the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili with a special award for his contribution to the development of gender equality.

Sharp thanked Margvelashvili for declaring 2015 the Year of Women and Gender Equality.

The head of state, in his turn, thanked the "United Nations Development Programme for very active work in Georgia." The President also stated the need for changes in the legislation to strengthen the role of women.
