Another doping scandal is taking place in Russia, famous Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova admitted today during an emergency press conference that she failed to pass a doping test conducted during the Australian Open.
The forbidden meldonium drug was found in her blood.
The President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpishchev said that Sharapova would continue her career and the failed doping test wouldn’t affect Russia's tennis as a whole.
At the same time, Russian Minister of Sport Vitaly Mutko noted that a few cases of disqualification of Russian athletes for doping may occur.
