Russia is not going to restore its cooperation with the US in the form in which it existed before, when Moscow silently agreed with Washington's actions, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated during a broadcast on the 'Russia-1' TV channel.
"Things will not be done like before. We won't silently issue a mandate for conduction of military operations, with the understanding that countries will not be accountable. There will be no tacit consent to interference in the internal affairs of countries, there will be no contemplation and agreements with resolutions, which completely untie the hands of someone and change the geopolitical landscape in the region," TASS quoted her as saying.
Commenting on the statements by Western diplomats regarding the fact that Russia should not expect previous relations, conduct of business as usual, the representative of Foreign Ministry stressed that in Moscow, "this formulation was heard, accepted and applied."
Speaking about the US actions on the international arena, Maria Zakharova recalled that during the years of carrying out the operation in Afghanistan, Washington never reported on it to the UN Security Council members. "The United States never reported to the UN Security Council about what they were doing in Afghanistan," she said.
In this regard, Russia has repeatedly drawn attention to the fact that a mandate on conducting the operation had been issued to the United States by a group of countries, to which the US authorities should report about their actions. "For many years in the UN Security Council the Russian Federation raised the issue regarding the fact that it would be nice to report to the Security Council, which gave you this document, at least one time in many years ... After all, it was a collective approval," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson noted.
