During traditional press briefing, Russian Foreign Ministry official spokesperson Maria Zakharova said: "confidentiality" surrounding the talks around settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should not frighten society. In addition, after the publication of first documents on the settlement, they won't be a surprise for the citizens of Azerbaijan and Armenia, since the negotiation process involves all the sides affected by the conflict.
"There definitely won't be any surprises for any country, because this is a negotiation process, 'shuttle' diplomacy, which involves following steps - questions, search for answers, search for possible solutions. This is a huge process that involves experts of almost all levels from both sides," she explained.
However Zakharov admitted that what she fears is not diplomatic "surprises", but the absence of any agreements in the settlement process.
"Right now the most important thing is to make sure that this process, which is progressing very actively, will end constructively and will really bring hope for peace to both sides, particularly peace in this region. This is the most important, and if it there is something to fear - it is the collapse of this process. It is very important," she stressed.
Speaking about expectations and disappointments of society, which it experienced throughout the entire process of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Maria Zakharova said that while talking to ordinary citizens of Azerbaijan and Armenia, everyone wanted the same thing - "so that there would be no more victims."
"Today is a very important point: we must do everything possible so that all the teams played for common result. Because the result must be truly common - cessation of violence, cessation of any potential possibilities for a new bloodshed, for new victims. It should be our common goal," she concluded.
