Maria Zakharova to Vestnik Kavkaza: temporary non-appointment of envoy does not affect Russian-Azerbaijani relations

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said, answering a question from Vestnik Kavkaza during the briefing, that the candidacy of new Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan has not yet been chosen.

"The President of the Russian Federation makes appointments of Russian ambassadors, relevant decrees are published on the president's website. It is entirely his prerogative. But I can say that our relations with Azerbaijan are developing," she stressed.

"Our embassy works in Baku, Moscow is in contact with our Azerbaijani colleagues. The ambassador's rotation is a natural process that can vary, but I will say again that this does not affect our relations and our contacts with Azerbaijani colleagues," Maria Zakharova noted.

Russia's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Vladimir Dorokhin has completed his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan upon Russian President Vladimir Putin's decision dated November 27, 2017.
