Moscow will introduce measures in response to the EU's extension of sanctions, but it must take into account the position of countries which oppose these sanctions, such as Greece, Hungary and Cyprus, the speaker of Russia’s Federation Council, Valentina Matviyenko, said.
She noted with regret that the extension of the EU sanctions against Russia was upheld, and assured that "Russia will adopt appropriate, weighted counter-sanctions."
Matviyenko called for a differentiated approach to European states. "However, it is necessary to take into account the stances of countries such as Greece, Hungary and Cyprus, which oppose EU sanctions," TASS cited her as saying.
