Businessman Samvel Mayrapetyan’s attorney Karen Batikyan has submitted a new petition to the Armenian prosecutor general Artur Davtyan, requesting discussion of the issue on releasing Mayrapetyan under personal guarantees.
The guarantees for Mayrapetyan were given by a group of intellectuals, including academicians, correspondent members of National Academy of Sciences, businessmen and others. They expressed in a letter their concerns over the ungrounded arrest of Samvel Mayrapetyan, who has serious health issues.
Considering the circumstances mentioned in the petition, the attorney requested change of preventive measure against Mayrapetyan under personal guarantees, Aysor reported.
The petition has been registered today. According to the law, it will be studied in 5 day term. By November 21 the prosecutor general will either uphold or decline the petition.
