Mehriban Aliyeva and Valentina Matvienko open "Azerbaijan" pavilion at VDNH

First Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva and Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko opened the "Azerbaijan" pavilion at VDNH in Moscow. The opening of the pavilion was attended by Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Ilyas Umakhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Konstantin Kosachev, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, Alexei Repik, Chairman of the Russian-Azerbaijani Business Council, Samed Gurbanov, Chairman of the Azerbaijani-Russian Council.

Matvienko noted that VDNH enjoys huge popularity among Moscow residents and guests of the capital. "This will be a very good promotion of Azerbaijan in Russia," she said.

The "Azerbaijan" pavilion, one of the gems of VDNH, was built in 1939. Authors of the project, architects Sadikh Dadashev and Mikail Huseynov, were awarded the USSR State Prize.

Exposition covered the achievements of the Azerbaijan SSR in the field of industry, sericulture, crop production, agriculture, culture, art and life.

In 2016, the pavilion was officially transferred to Azerbaijan, and restoration works began there.
