Watching rhythmic gymnastics enrich people of art, Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Mehriban Zaki, who came to see the first performances of the FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku, told the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza.
"I really love rhythmic gymnastics, I even wanted to do it myself when I was a kid. I am an actress and see the art hidden in rhythmic gymnastics. I am fascinated by the work of the gymnasts, how skillfully they move - I can watch rhythmic gymnastics for hours," Mehriban Zaki admitted.
"As a person of art, when I watch gymnasts' performances, I take certain nuances of movements to use it in my profession, because rhythmic gymnastics is not just a sport, it is something more. Of course, such competitions enrich me, and I also like the fact that there is such a development of this sport in Azerbaijan, and that they show great interest from abroad. I wish all our gymnasts much success," the actress wished.
The FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup will be held in Baku on April 28-30. Participation of 94 gymnasts from 21 countries is expected in the event, 37 of them will perform in the individual program, while 57 gymnasts will take part within the teams of group exercises. Athletes will compete for 8 medal sets.
