Competitions in Baku is a great experience for both gymnasts and their coaches, head coach of the Polish junior artistic gymnastics national team Michal Bogus said, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza on the sidelines of the XV Summer European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku.
"The organizing committee has done extraordinary work in the preparation of the competition, provided us with a wonderful practice hall and the main arena. All of this is a great experience for coaches and even better experience for our gymnasts. The conditions provided in Baku are among the best in the world, we live a few steps away from the arena and we feel at home here," he stressed.
Michal Bogus noted that the performance of Polish gymnasts in Baku keeps getting better every year. "A year ago I was here to qualify for the Youth Olympic Games, and now we are preparing for the Junior European Artistic Gymnastics Championships, which will be held in Baku next year. From year to year our results in Baku are getting better and better and better," the head coach of the Polish junior artistic gymnastics national team stressed.
"The Baku Olympic Festival has absolutely no resemblance to other competitions - there is such a great atmosphere here, a lot of fun, many people from different countries and cultures are here. That is, the Baku festival is not just sports, but also cultural experience," Michal Bogus pointed out.
The XV Summer European Youth Olympic Festival is being held in Baku on July 21-27. The festival will be attended by more than 3,900 athletes from 48 European countries. Athletes will compete in ten kinds of sports - gymnastics, athletics, basketball, cycling, handball, judo, swimming, tennis, volleyball and wrestling. In total, athletes will compete for 135 sets of medals.
