The clash of the government forces with the militants took place on Saturday morning in the south-east of Palmyra, the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria reported.
"Today, at five o'clock in the morning, 36 kilometers south-east of the city of Palmyra, a clash occurred between the Syrian government troops and a sabotage-terrorist group of militants who tried to break out of the area of the Al-Tanf settlement in the direction of the city of Palmyra," the report reads.
