All athletes taking part in the gymnastic tournaments in Baku are satisfied with the competitions, the President of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Morinari Watanabe said in Baku.
"Azerbaijan has great experience in holding World Cups. There were gymnastics tournaments before and every time we see some innovations at the World Cups in Baku. I can say that all the participants are satisfied with the Baku tournaments," the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza cited him as saying.
Watanabe noted that he was very pleased to be in Azerbaijan. He drew attention to the high level of development of gymnastics in Azerbaijan and expressed confidence that Azerbaijan will be represented at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020 in rhythmic and artistic gymnastics, as well as in trampolining.
The FIG president touched on future reforms in the organization's activities. "FIG is going to make changes to gymnastics, and I would like to see that these changes were thoroughly covered in the media," he said.
Watanabe also touched upon the issue of future presidential elections to the European Gymnastics Union (UEG), the Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, Farid Gaibov, will also run for this office. "As for the candidacy of Farid Gaibov, he is my fellow, I know him very well and appreciate his activity, I wish him every success in the elections," the FIG president concluded.
