Turkish products will be supplied to the Russian market immediately after the politically motivated trade restrictions are lifted, the head of Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) Sergei Dankvert said.
"The (Turkish) government will open (the items) not covered by the sanctions," he said, adding that the remaining items subject to claims will be negotiated.
Thus, after the political restrictions on Turkey’s supplies of agriculture products are lifted, tomatoes will remain under sanctions, TASS reported.
Dankvert's statement follows checks of Turkish agricultural producers conducted by his agency between May 14 and 19. He said Rosselkhoznadzor had inspected 18 companies producing lettuce, zucchinis, pepper and Chinese lettuce.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said after a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Binali Yildirim that Russian restrictions on imports of Turkish tomatoes are still in place.
