Russia and the United States are working to organize a meeting of the Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman said.
"Lavrov and Tillerson are in contact with each other," RIA Novosti cited the envoy as saying.
Huntsman added that he is not confident whether the meeting would take place, but the sides are working on the organization of a meeting.
The diplomat also expressed hope that during the meeting the ministers will be able to discuss the issues that are of paramount importance, namely Syria and North Korea.
