Moscow will strengthen its contacts with Baku in the near future, the minister of Moscow City Government, head of Department for Foreign Economic Activity and International Relations Sergei Cheremin told Vestnik Kavkaza during the Russian delegation's visit to Azerbaijan.
"I am sincerely glad that our initiative to resume active relations between Moscow and Baku was supported not only by the leadership of the Azerbaijani capital, but also by the leadership of Azerbaijan. Moscow and Baku are historically linked by friendship, excellent political relations and foreign economic relations," he stressed in the first place.
"When the sanctions were announced, Azerbaijan was the first extend a hand of friendship, sharply increasing agricultural supplies to Russia. And this is only one of the small episodes of our common life. It is impossible to divide our culture or our history. We lived an entire era being one country, defending the same values," Sergey Cheremin drew attention.
"Now there's a need to exchange experience in organizing the life of cities, in improving the quality of life of our citizens, in making our cities smart, safe and comfortable for living. We agreed with Baku to develop and sign a cooperation program in the near future, which will cover practically all spheres of municipal relations," the Moscow minister said.
"That is why our proposal to hold the Days of Moscow in Baku is a positive event, which is highly appreciated and supported by the leadership of both Azerbaijan and Baku. We held official meetings with the leadership of the city, with the country's prime minister, with representatives of various ministries interested in cooperation with Moscow," Sergey Cheremin said.
The minister noted that the second phase of the Days of Moscow in Baku, including concerts, exhibitions and an economic forum, will take place in the second half of April.
