First Vice President of the Russian Wrestling Federation (RWF) Georgi Brusov said that the head of the Ministry of Sports Vitaly Mutko supported the idea of the Sochi European Wrestling Championship 2017.
"The Sports Minister supported the idea of holding the 2017 European Championship in our country, in Sochi. The agreement was reached during a working meeting with the President of the United World Wrestling, Serb Nenad Lalovic, and the RWF President, Mikhail Mamiashvili, during a visit to the wrestling competition at the first European Games in Baku. There, in Sochi, on these dates the election of the President of the European Wrestling Federation will be held. The relevant application will be filed in the near future," TASS quotes Brusov as saying.
