NATO won’t change its policy in exchange for Russia’s help in fight against terrorism

Deputy Secretary General of NATO Alexander Vershbow has stated at a briefing in Vilnius that the alliance won’t abandon the additional security measures in Eastern Europe in exchange for Russia’s help in the fight against terrorism.

Recall that a meeting of defense ministers of NATO member countries took place on February 10th. It was decided to expand the progressive alliance's presence in Eastern Europe, RIA Novosti reports.

At the same time, he expressed hope that the ongoing diplomatic contacts could bring the positions of NATO and the Russian Federation closer. "But Russia also raises the question that we should cooperate in the fight against terrorism and end measures that were taken in response to their aggression against Ukraine. We don’t intend to make any exchanges,’’ RIA Novosti Vershbow as saying.
