An inter-regional payment center (Merz) for electricity payments will be established in the North Caucasus.
The joint project of Rosseti and the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the North Caucasus was discussed at a meeting chaired by the Deputy Minister Odes Baisultanov.
The center will consist of seven branches in each of the regions of the North Caucasus, as well as 194 payment points in 134 settlements. The central office will be located in Pyatigorsk.
"According to our calculations, about 5 million individual users could use a united inter-regional center. The project has already been started, so the development of the payment system can be completed by 2017," TASS cited the minister as saying.
Speaking about the prospects of the project, the first deputy general director of Rossetti, Roman Berdnikov, noted that in the framework of the project they plan to introduce a single receipt and a single information window, as well as online payment.
