Kazakhstan's National Bank has raised its key rate by one percentage point to 17%.
Operations of constant access with a symmetric interest rate corridor of plus or minus two percentage points were also resumed.
According to the statement by the National Bank's press service, such a change in the base rate was aimed at strengthening confidence in the tenge and the banking system.
In addition, the new rate should increase the attractiveness of deposits in the national currency.
