Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev delivered his annual Address to the people of the republic.
The head of state said that the republic's relations with Russia set the standard. “Kazakhstan’s relations with Russia set the standard of interstate relations,” Nazarbayev emphasized. "We will continue work in this direction," RIA Novosti cites him as saying.
In his address to the people of Kazakhstan, Nazarbayev noted that the republic should use the best experience in managing all sectors through the introduction of flexible, convenient standards. The President instructed the government to support the manufacturing industry and non-oil exports in the next three years and allocate an additional 500 billion tenge for these purposes.
The head of state also instructed the Cabinet to raise the minimum wage on January 1, 2019 from 28 to 42 thousand tenge.
In addition, he analyzed the activities of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). According to the president, it's work is "successful."
Speaking about the Astana process on Syria, Nazarbayev pointed out that it had become practically the only effective working format for negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the Syrian crisis.
He also said that Kazakhstan's partnership with China, the United States and other countries will continue. "Of course, of a proactive foreign policy is required in order to ensure the successful modernization of Kazakhstan, further progress," the president said. "Our peaceful policy and clearly defined priorities in this area are fully justified," Nazarbayev noted.
