Netherlands takes presidency of EU Council

Today the EU presidency moved to the Netherlands from Luxembourg. The President's program in the Netherlands includes such priorities as migration and international security.

"Instability on the borders of Europe is reflected in the internal life of the EU member states. The external security and internal security are closely linked and require a coordinated approach. It is necessary to improve the reception of refugees in the region and Europe," Interfax reports.

At the same time, Amsterdam intends to develop innovation in the EU economy aimed at economic growth and job creation in Europe. "The Netherlands wants Europe to focus on prosperity, freedom and security of the citizens," the Netherlands explained.
