New President of Turkmenistan: country to continue policy of neutrality

During the inauguration ceremony, Turkmenistan’s elected President, Serdar Berdimuhamedow promised that the country would continue its policy of neutrality under his leadership.

According to him, this course will be based "on good neighborliness, mutual respect, equality and mutually beneficial cooperation with all states of the world".

"The basic principles of the legal status of the neutrality of our country, namely the strengthening of peace and security, the expansion of friendly and fraternal relations based on goodwill, and the achievement of sustainable development in the world, will be priority areas of Turkmenistan's foreign policy", he said.
