Russia's Ministry of Defense will unite naval aviation and the Pacific Fleet's air defense forces as part of a powerful army with a headquarters in Kamchatka, the ministry said.
The formation of the army will start in 2018. It will include aviation units, anti-aircraft missile and radio-technical troops, the Izvestia newspaper writes.
Its area of responsibility will include the territory from the Northern Kuriles to Wrangel Island.
The newspaper added that a new army is created to monitor threats in its area of responsibility and to exclude a sudden air attack.
