New road to link Sumgait with Russia

Azerbaijan's authorities plan to implement this year a major infrastructure project of a new highway connecting the satellite city of Baku Sumgait with the Russian border, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

"This year, we will seriously engage in the construction of a new main road from the city of Sumgait to the border with Russia," abc.az cited the President as saying.

In total, within the framework of the "State Program on socio-economic development of the regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2014-2018", some 2300 km of roads will be built this year, he added.
