Manager of UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, Ali Abdelaziz, has claimed that his man was offered $100million for a boxing match with former boxing champion Floyd Mayweather.
Khabib previously mentioned the proposal, that has been linked to various nations in the Middle East, after Mayweather himself first named the now-retired MMA champion as a potential opponent.
Mayweather told TMZ after Khabib’s win over Conor McGregor: "Oh, we fighting. I’m my own boss, so I can’t say what’s going on on Khabib’s end. But, on my end, we can make it happen…"
"When I face Khabib, of course I’m getting a nine-figure ($100m+) payday," he continued. "Yes, it’s more than the McGregor fight, probably $100m more guaranteed. I’mma say between $110m and $200m guaranteed."
The fight never materialised then, but now Abdelaziz has confirmed that they were approached, Talk SPORT reported.
He said to TMZ Sports: "Listen, we got offered $100million to fight Floyd Mayweather. Dana White was on board, everybody was on board. But, you know, Khabib is an MMA fighter. If Floyd wanted to come to fight, get his little ass whooped, no problem."
As things stand, Khabib and Mayweather both remain retired, though Floyd is set for an exhibition bout with YouTuber Logan Paul on February 20.
