OSCE MG: Karabakh conflict resolution impossible without solving refugee problem

The OSCE Minsk Group’s co-chairs James Warlick (USA), Pierre Andrieu (France) and Igor Popov (Russia) met with refugees from the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

According to the Russian co-chair, the meeting was fruitful: "Our visit to the region will end today. In Armenia, we discussed political developments, the escalation of tension on the contact line of troops and the issue of establishment of humanitarian cooperation," APA cited him as saying.

James Warlick said that no comprehensive solution can be achieved in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict without resolving the problems of all refuges.

French co-chair Pierre Andrieu said that they are aware of the importance of the refugee factor in settling the conflict: "We are discussing this issue. During meetings with ICRC representatives, we initiated the identification of those who died during the Karabakh war. This process is under way both in Azerbaijan and Armenia".
