US President Barack Obama had a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as with Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. They discussed the situation in Syria "and the importance of expanding joint efforts to strengthen the moderate Syrian opposition and step up pressure against IS," the press service of the White House said.
"They also discussed ways to create conditions for a negotiated solution to the conflict, including a political transition in Syria,” the press service added.
In addition, the US president congratulated the Turkish people on the recent parliamentary elections that were held on November 1, TASS reports.
