Oksana Chusovitina: FIG World Cup in Baku is a test for gymnasts

Uzbek gymnast, absolute record holder by the number of Olympics she participated in, Olympic champion Oksana Chusovitina, who won another championship at today's FIG World Cup in Artistic Gymnastics in Baku, said in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza that she was satisfied with her result.

"I'm satisfied with how I performed. The competition was tough, so I'm happy that I won. I prepared for this tournament. I didn't show all my difficult jumps this time, so the result is even more pleasant," she said.

Oksana Chusovitina noted that FIG World Cup in Baku is a test for all the athletes. "It's a new Olympic cycle, there are new rules, everyone test their programs here.

She informed that she doesn't plan to retire in the near future and she hopes to perform at the Olympics once again. "These competitions are a preparation for the World Cup in Montreal. And then, in 2020, when I will once again come to Baku, that Baku tournament will be a preparation for the Olympics," she noted.

The FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup is being held in Baku on March 16-19. Athletes from 23 countries will compete for 10 medal sets.
