Zohreh Elahian has withdrawn her candidacy from the Iranian presidential election. The former member of parliament wrote about this on her page on the social network.
She also explained the reasons for this decision.
"In order to preserve the unity of the revolutionary movement, supporting a candidate who enjoys the confidence of the people and the elites, and expressing gratitude for the wisdom of the leader of the revolution in placing women in senior leadership positions, I withdraw my candidacy",
Zohreh Elahian said.
Elahian was one of four women who registered their candidacy to run in the elections.
