Georgian opposition parties have initiated constitutional changes to scrap the first-past-the-post component of the electoral system for the elections that will be held after the 2016 parliamentary elections.
The parties are launching a campaign to collect the 200,000 signatures required for initiating a rival bill for constitutional changes.
In accordance with the Constitution of Georgia, parliamentary elections are held under a proportional (77 deputies), and a first-past-the-post system (73), Sputnik Georgia reports.
