Activist of the New Armenia opposition movement Gevorg Safaryan was detained in Yerevan last night.
Gevorg Safaryan and several of his associates tried to unveil a Christmas tree on Freedom Square. However, according to the police, the action was not previously agreed with the authorities. Oppositionists tried to hinder the police and the situation led to a skirmish, as a result of which five opposition members were taken into custody by the police, Novosti Armenia reports.
