The Georgian parliament overcame a veto on the bill on foreign agents, which was imposed by the country's president ten days ago. This was announced by the Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili.

the Chairman of Parliament said.
Two votes took place at today's parliamentary meeting. The first was against the president's motivated remarks, and the second was in favor of the first version of the bill.
66 deputies, with a quorum of 50, spoke out against the president's veto. 84 deputies, with a quorum of 76, voted for the original version of the law.
Bill on Foreign Agents in Georgia
The first attempt to pass this high-profile law was made a year ago, but then the Georgian authorities had to abandon this idea due to mass demonstrations. In April of this year, the Georgian leadership launched the process of adoption of this law again. The document was adopted in three readings in less than a month, after which it was vetoed by the President.
According to the authorities, this law will ensure transparency in the activities of NGOs and the media, whose funding more than 20% comes from abroad. Such organizations will be listed in a special register. They will be obliged to submit a declaration once a year. Organizations that violate these requirements will be subject to fines.
