Participants of Trampoline World Cup thanks Baku for good conditions

The 1st Trampoline &Tumbling World Cup of the new Olympic cycle will be held in Baku on February 18-19th.

Recently, the control training and rehearsal of the opening ceremony of the tournament was held in the National gymnastics arena.

The organizers promise that this will be an exciting sporting event, because the star athletes will come to Baku, among who there are the Olympic champion in trampoline Vladislav Goncharov (Belorussia), silver medalist Dmitry Ushakov (Russia), the winners of the World Cup, Sebastian Martini (France), Andrey Yudin (Russia), Mikhail Melnik (Russia). The famous Russian athletes - the silver medalist of the World Championship, Grigory Noskov, and gold medalist of the European championship, Anna Korobeinikova - will demonstrate their skills on the tumbling track.

The athletes are already arriving in the capital of Azerbaijan. The correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza talked with the representatives of the national teams of South Africa and Kazakhstan after the training.

"We arrived before anyone else in order to get acclimated," said Bianca Zyunekind, the only representative of South Africa, which will compete in the tumbling.

The sportswoman appreciated the infrastructure created for the gymnasts in Baku . "I am here for the first time and I am impressed. The Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation has created all conditions for the development of gymnastics. There are no such grand arenas in South Africa. Moreover, we know well the head coach of the Azerbaijani tumbling team, Adil Huseynzade,’’  Zyunekind noted.

In turn, the head coach of the trampoline national team of Kazakhstan, Sergey Vertyankin, expressed confidence that their team will be successful at the Baku arena. "At the last World Cup in Switzerland, our athletes took the bronze, and I hope that here we will celebrate success,’’ he said.  In the competition the Kazakhstani team will be represented by four athletes in trampoline and three - in tumbling track.

"This is the first competition on the new rules, which came into effect with the start of the new Olympic cycle. Many new nuances appeared, so there is a lot of work, but we are confident in success, because Baku created excellent conditions for the gatherings, rooms have amazing equipment for training,’’ the coach said.

"The national team is now gaining momentum - in the past year, for the first time in sports history of Kazakhstan the country introduced the sportsman in trampoline at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro - Pirmammad Aliyev. He took twelfth place, but failed to get into the finals of the competition. So far it is our best result. We are struggling forward and we have started our way to enter the trampoline gymnasts elite,’’ Vertyankin summarized.
