Pashinyan explains inevitability of the Second Karabakh war and Armenia's defeat

Prime Minister of Armenia wrote on Facebook that his decision on the Karabakh issue had no alternatives.

First of all, Pashinyan mentioned history, according to him, "in 2011 in Kazan, Armenia was ready to return 7 regions" to Azerbaijan. However, it should be noted that those regions were liberated from occupation only in November 2020, after the signing of a trilateral agreement with the participation of Russia, which ended the war started by Armenia on September 27.

"In this situation, what was the alternative to what happened?" he continued.

Pashinyan saw the return of its territories to Azerbaijan without a war as a betrayal.

“What have we done? We have prepared as much as possible for the war. Now it turns out that we have not prepared well,” he wrote.

The price for ending the war remained the same - returning the seven districts. "If the return of three districts amid the mortal threat of the loss of Shusha and Khankendi is a betrayal, then how can the return of seven districts in relatively better conditions not be a betrayal?" he added.

According to him, right now it is necessary to "stabilize the situation, and not aggravate it." "The most important things right now is the issue of prisoners, missing persons and possible shelters, which must be resolved very quickly," Pashinyan stated.
